DNA Adducts Analysis (Using ³²P-postlabelling and High Performance Liquid Chromatography)

The ³²P-postlabelling method facilitates DNA adduct analysis. It employs specific labelling of DNA adducts by the ³²P isotope. Labelled adducts are subsequently separated using TLC (thin layer chromatography). DNA adducts are created by covalent binding of a chemical compound to DNA. These compounds may include polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons contained in tobacco smoke or polluted environment. Adducts can even cause cancer if not repaired in vivo.
